In roaming around the ‘Net looking for interesting links for
active 39ers, I found many “health,”
“fitness,” and “how-to-do-practically-anything,” sites, blogs, and organizations—all
wonderful topics, with some wonderful and many not-so-terrific representatives.
What didn’t I find? Ways to maintain our fun and active lifestyles after we’ve
been deemed “old” by society.
Most of the information I’ve uncovered so far pertains to
our physical and physically mental aging process and how to cope or in some
claims, slow/stop/reverse the effects. That’s all well and good—so long as you
disseminate between what is true for you, and what is not, or simply what is
purely bogus.
But my whole premise for the 39 and Holding Club
is to treat your ethereal state of mind … that spirit which is the essence of you
… not how to oil your creaky hips, or remember everything on the grocery list
you “forgot” on the kitchen table.
I’m talking about plain ol’ unadulterated FUN.
One of the reasons
(among many) that it’s taken so long for me to “launch” the site and this blog
is I was seeking more information to provide for you—but many “over 40” sites
narrowed the search via “singles” or other specific category—so though the generalized
fun factor wasn’t as easy to locate as I had expected, I did manage to unearth
some gems.

What used to make you
happy? I did discover quite a few nostalgia
sites—while reminiscing our pasts and those fondly familiar lifestyles,
what are your favorite memories? (Primarily for 50+, but there are many other
sites for younger/older 39ers that I’ll list on the website as I find
them.) Music of course—listen here, Rich Bro Radio; a walk
down Memory Lane, Pop History Dig; and for a little
early Rock & Roll history, my own, Blast from Your Past.
What makes you happy right
now? Reminders to appreciate today’s
opportunities; laugh, mingle with like-minded folks, and enjoy (or gently mock)
the as-yet unenlightened young’uns. Over 40 Meet-Up; Today is that day.
And what will make you
happy tomorrow … next month … next year … the rest of your life? Explore
not only those avenues you need to travel to ensure your legacy, etc., but what
will
make your heart glad? What attainable bucket-list adventures are waiting
for you? What dream or goal yet needs to be achieved? Adventures inParis; NFL’sOldest Cheerleader.
We should look eagerly forward to tomorrow’s happiness. It’s
true, we’re mortal, and at any age, tomorrow may never come … but what if it
does?
If you take away at least one little nugget of inspiration,
or smile even one time while you read these blog posts or wander the website,
then one of my bucket-list items can be checked off.
Feel free to comment here, and/or suggest—and by all means, let me
know if I can insert a checkmark
by your name—thank you.
Cheers to you!
